New Jersey Surgeon Develops Seventy Five Minute Face and Neck Lift
Dr. William Bass of Hackensack New Jersey has assembled a kit of established cosmetic surgery tools into a minimally invasive face and neck rejuvenation procedure. The process has been trademarked with the name of Cool Lift, reflecting perhaps the reduced use of surface laser heat on the skin, and the subsequent reduced swelling following the procedure.
Dr. Bass utilizes a laser assisted liposuction tool across the mid-facial area through tiny incisions made behind the ears. He had noted the skin tightening process that laser liposuction achieved in other areas of the body and tried it in facial procedures. What he found is that by using a low-intensity laser that minimizes collateral damage to tissue, he can remove excess fat from mid-facial areas and stimulate tightening of the skin. Part of the process uses a protective plate to protect epidermal skin while the laser is used to rejuvenate deeper skin layers.
The doctor also performs minor elevating procedures through the skin incisions which has the dual effect of further tightening facial skin and reducing the post operative swelling.
The entire facial process takes about sixty minutes. If the patient spends an additional fifteen minutes in the office, Cool Lift can be applied to the neck as well. Deep tissue skin heating is combined with the laser lipolysis to reduce the sagging effect in the neck and tighten outer tissue.
While there are minor incisions and elevation involved, the principal tool utilized in Cool Lift is the low level laser liposuction tool, applied carefully to deep tissue so that skin tightening can be encouraged and the production of collagen stimulated. The entire process requires only a local, topically applied anesthetic. Injections are not necessary.
While a pressure garment may be worn to help minimize swelling for the initial twenty four hours after the procedure, most patients are back at work within five to seven days. The extensive down time and swelling reduction required for a more traditional face lift is eliminated by the minimally invasive nature of the process.
Dr. Boss uses settings on the low level laser liposuction to minimize the pain involved in the procedure. Patients are encouraged to return a second day for an additional palliative laser treatment to further reduce the pain. An additional technique applied with the laser liposuction device and the cannula used to extract excess fat is the application of fat cells elsewhere in the face where they may be needed for contouring purposes.
Cool Lift is an impressive display of an experienced surgeon getting the most out of recent technological developments in body contouring to accomplish multiple tasks for face and neck lifts that once required extensive incisions and deep suturing.
