The Advantages of being Board Certified in Two Countries
Before I moved from Paris, France to Houston, Texas in 1999, I already had my board certification in France. I had extensive training in craniofacial surgery which is a subspecialty in plastic surgery, founded by a French plastic surgeon, Dr. Paul Tessier. I had the privilege to train under him during the two last years of his practice. I was four years into my practice when I met my husband in Paris (more…)

Finding a Plastic Surgeon
The most important thing to do is review the surgeon’s before and after photos and I go over this below, but also consider the following:
- Ask friends or family who have had plastic surgery and are satisfied with their results for references.
- Ask those who do give you references about:
a. What procedure(s) they have had done,b. their experience,c. have them show you their results, (more…)Written by: Andre Aboolian M.D

The Importance of Board Certification in Choosing your Plastic Surgeon
Once you’ve made the decision to enhance your appearance with a cosmetic plastic surgery procedure, the next big decision is choosing your plastic surgeon. In my opinion there are really three things to look for; Board Certification, friend experiences, and websites. The most important credentialing information that should be assured first before anything else is the process of board certification in plastic surgery, (more…)

One Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Through the efforts of the American Society of Plastic Surgery (ASPS) and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the importance of Board Certification has become public knowledge, but what does it really mean?

Choosing Your Plastic Surgeon
Choosing a qualified plastic surgeon to evaluate and treat you, is a very important decision. There is a lot of hype in the cosmetic surgery field. The topic is everywhere-on TV shows, in magazines, in the newspaper, and on the Internet. There’s a lot of information out there for a person to absorb. Some of this information is truthful and informative, but there are also many misconceptions. When something goes wrong with the celebrities’ cosmetic surgery, it grabs more publicity than a procedure that went without a hitch. (more…)

Board Certification & Plastic Surgery
The decision to have a plastic surgery procedure performed should be made after careful consideration of one’s options. It is especially important for prospective patients to be educated about the credentials of the surgeon with whom they are consulting.
Board certification is an important concept to understand. The American Board of Plastic Surgeons, whose Website can be found at www.abplsurg.org, certifies plastic and reconstructive surgeons who have completed a recognized residency training program in that specialty. (more…)

Why Board Certification is Critical When Choosing a Surgeon
Elective Cosmetic Surgery… Once you have reached the point that you are now ready to choose who will operate on your face or body, it is indeed a “big deal!” Some people choose their electrician, plumber, hairdresser, and even auto mechanic with more care and research than they choose their surgeon. You ask the opinion of friends you trust, of acquaintances who have similar needs (or experience with a certain provider), a caring family physician, or on the basis of an advertisement that draws you to a certain website. Importance of Choosing an ASPS Certified Surgeon
When enlisting the services of a surgeon to improve the appearance of face and/or body, patients seek many characteristics, but with variable priority. Some patients seek a surgeon they trust, and feel comfortable with. Others seek a good bedside manner, a doctor who spends time explaining the procedure in understandable terms. For some, the surgeons’ aesthetic sense and technical skill are most important, as evaluated from results he or she has achieved for other patients seen in “before and after” pictures. (more…)

The Importance of Board Certification
When I graduated from my residency training, there were two major things I was happiest about. First and foremost was not having to be on call in the hospital every third day anymore. The second was the fact that I had only two exams left to take for the rest of my life. Those two exams were for my board certification.
The ultimate examination that any surgeon ever has to take is their board certification exams. Every specialty is slightly different but in plastic surgery there are two exams we have to take to become board certified. (more…)

A “Real Housewife of Orange County” Chose One of Our Surgeons
“The Real Housewives of Orange County,” a very popular Bravo TV reality show now in its fourth season, brings to light the personal stories of five well-to-do women, their families and their careers, their dreams, their secrets, and especially, their fights. Never at a loss for drama, the “Housewives of OC” entertains millions of viewers each week. Tamra Barney is one of the most popular of the OC “housewives,” and she recently turned to a surgeon listed with www.breast-augmentation-resource.com to do her breast reduction surgery.
Breast Augmentation Revision
The highly respected Orange County cosmetic surgeon Miland Ambe was Tamra’s choice for her revision surgery. Tamra - a petite mother of four - had undergone breast augmentation surgery in her 20’s, and with her “big 4-Oh” birthday approaching, she felt that her 34D breasts were too big for her slender frame and height. Both her decision to downsize her breasts and the excellent outcome of her surgery were featured on a third-season episode of the show.
Although Tamra often referred to herself as “the hottest housewife in Orange County,” she was considering having her breast implants completely removed. She chose Dr. Ambe, well known for his skill and artistry concerning revision surgeries, and his consultation with her was extensive.
Careful Consideration of Goals and Issues
As Dr. Ambe noted, “I find that sometimes patients tell me exactly what they want done, thinking they know how a procedure will make them look and feel. I would much rather start by discussing their issues and goals, then evaluate the options. Many times we end up planning a procedure that’s slightly different than the one they thought they should have.”
Dr. Ambe suspected that Tamra wouldn’t be comfortable having very small breasts after a complete removal of her implants, and he also knew that she might be unaware of how much of her natural breast tissue had been lost due to the birth of her children. After they discussed her options, feelings and comfort level in detail, they settled together on a surgical outcome providing Tamra with mid-C cup breasts, with new but smaller implants that would fit her body better.
A Very Satisfying and Successful Outcome
Tamra is thrilled with her revision surgery, and she reports having received many e-mails from women around the U.S. and beyond who were facing the same issues. She’s happy to continue to present her new body as that of “the hottest housewife in Orange County.”
