People seek butt lift cosmetic surgery for many of the same reasons as anyone interested in cosmetic surgery: to enhance and balance the contours and appearance of the body. Good candidates for butt lift cosmetic surgery include men and women who have lost a significant amount of weight and have excess or loose skin in the buttocks area and individuals who are seeking a more muscular look or want to add fullness to their buttocks area. Butt lift cosmetic surgery can also be done in conjunction with other complimentary procedures such as liposuction, breast augmentation, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and thigh lift.

There are two types of procedures in butt lift cosmetic surgery. One involves implanting solid or semi-solid implants under the upper butt muscles to enhance the contours of the butt region. The second type of butt lift cosmetic surgery involves micro fat grafting. This procedure takes fat from other areas of the body, via liposuction, and grafts it into the buttocks area.

Butt lift cosmetic surgery that utilizes implants can lift and enhance the features of the buttocks region. The procedure involves making a two to three inch incision in the crease between the butt cheeks. The buttocks implant is typically made of elastomer, a material that prevents leaking. These solid or semi solid implants are inserted into the upper portions of the buttocks between the muscle (gluteus maximus) and the fascia (the connective tissue that surrounds the muscle). The space made for the implant is the exact same size as the implant itself, which minimizes the risk that the implants will shift. Because the implants are inserted into the upper portions of the buttocks, contour enhancement is achieved but you do not have to sit on the portion of the butt where the implants are placed. There are different sizes, shapes, and materials that butt implants are available in. To find out which type is appropriate for your body and your desired effect, you may wish to consult a butt lift cosmetic surgery specialist.

The second type of butt lift cosmetic surgery involves taking fat from a different region of the body, often the abdominal area, the upper thigh area, the arms, or the back, and micro grafting it into the buttocks area. In order for this procedure to be possible, an individual must have enough fat in other parts of the body that can be taken for use in the surgery. During this procedure fat is gently extracted from the host area using liposuction techniques and equipment. Fat particles are purified and then inserted into the layers of the buttocks though a very small incision 1/8th of an inch wide. Fat cells are evenly distributed so that they will have an ample blood supply to keep them alive.

Butt lift cosmetic surgery is a relatively safe and simple procedure that can give the buttocks region a more visually pleasing and younger appearance.
