New Acne Treatment
Doctors have found a new way to treat acne that may clear up skin and prevent mild to severe acne from coming back.
Going Green
Although blue and red light have been known to have a positive effect on skin conditions, green wavelengths of light are now being used to treat acne problems.
In a recent report from the Cosmetic Dermatology journal, doctors studied how photodynamic therapy using a green light laser is able to improve spider veins and skin lesions.
Photodynamic therapy involves using the light-sensitive agent before the actual treatment.
Alternative to Other Treatments
Although acne is often resistant to treatment, photodynamic therapies are alternative options since they are noninvasive.
The green light therapy can treat many lesions in one session, as opposed to over-the-counter and prescription medications that have to be used consistently for an extended period of time.
Studies show that green light has a positive effect on preventing bacterial buildups and sebaceous gland activity.
