Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 have the highest approval rating of cosmetic surgery, according to a new report released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Results Not Surprising
The report is based on a survey of 1,000 people over the age of 18. According to the findings, respondents over the age of 65 had the lowest approval rating of cosmetic surgery.

“It makes sense that young people are the most approving of plastic surgery. Twenty years ago people thought only movie stars and rich women had plastic surgery. Now people grow up knowing friends and family who openly talk about the plastic surgery procedures they have had or the ones they plan to have in the future,” said Dr. Foad Nahai, ASAPS president.

Key Findings
Other findings include:

· Nearly 80 percent of men and women said they would not be embarrassed to tell others they had a cosmetic procedure

· Women are more likely than men to consider cosmetic surgery

· 16 percent of respondents said their attitude toward cosmetic surgery had become more favorable in the last five years

· Men and women without a child in the home are less likely to consider cosmetic surgery than those with children
