There have been a number of choices for lip augmentation, including Collagen, Hylaform, Juvederm, fat transfers, tendon or dermal grafting. Yet, for the first time in history there may be a choice that is specifically designed for lip augmentation. The FDA has recently granted approval to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Implant-Fulfil Lip, manufactured by Evera Medical.

Lip augmentation has grown in popularity over the years as baby boomers have grown older and desire fuller, plumper and more shapely lips. In fact, the effects of lip augmentation can improve lip lines as well. The more traditional methods for lip augmentation may last up to 5 months or more, but Fulfil Lip is designed to be a permanent solution for lip augmentation.

During a lip augmentation procedure with FulFil Lip, a local anesthetic is administered before the balloon like implant with saline is inserted into the lip. The balloon may be filled to any desired size to accommodate for the needs of most every patient. Within a short amount of time, patients can leave the office with immediate improvements to their lips.  The materials that compose FulFil Lip have been used in other medical applications for many years. Over time, the balloon surface fastens to the lip's tissue. Though the procedure is permanent, the effects are meant to be reversible when necessary. The goal of the upcoming study is to provide valuable data that will support an FDA approval for FulFil Lip in the near future.

In the past, Evera Medical conducted a clinical trial oversees to note that patients rated satisfaction an average of 6.3 on a scale of 0-7, 7 being the highest. Patients in this trial were followed for up to 2 year's time. Evera Medical has a history of producing implantable devices such as VeraFil Augmentation Implant which is FDA approved for augmentation around the eyes.
