At only two-years-old, Dr. Brian Vassar Heil knew he wanted to be a plastic surgeon. He spent his entire formative days planning out his route to becoming a plastic surgeon and now he and his patients are reaping the rewards of this early decision.

“I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and aspired to being a plastic surgeon my entire life,” Dr. Heil described. “I thirsted to make that very direct and definite intervention into patients' lives, and this aspiration grew over the next 19 years and was affirmed by my medical school days as I found my passion for the challenge, diversity, artistry, and perfection of plastic surgery.”

Medical Training

Dr. Heil received two undergraduate degrees from St. Vincent College—a BA in Organic Chemistry and a BS in Organismal Biology. After graduation, Dr. Heil went on to obtain his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

He then completed a five-year residency in general surgery and plastic and reconstructive surgery. As part of his training, Dr. Heil also completed a fellowship in microsurgery and thrombosis research at one of the top plastic surgery training centers in the country: University Medical Center of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Heil's Practice

Dr. Heil has built a successful practice—with four locations—in the Pittsburgh area where he specializes in breast surgery, body contouring, and facial rejuvenation.

“We have progressively built a practice that offers our patients a comprehensive and team approach to their care, including a multi-site surgical practice with integrated surgery center and full-service medical spas,” said Dr. Heil.

A Devoted Surgeon

Dr. Heil works with each patient on a personal level, listening to their needs to ensure their plastic surgery experience is a positive one.

“My devotion to the field of plastic surgery is both manifested and renewed in each new patient relationship. I am passionate about making that very personal impact and change in the lives of my patients,” Dr. Heil stated.

To ensure patients receive the highest quality care, Dr. Heil stays abreast of the latest innovations and advances in the field of plastic surgery. In fact, he has made a number of professional contributions, authoring more than 80 papers and abstracts, attending conferences and giving presentations on plastic surgery topics.

Rewarding Moments

Dr. Heil's journey has been long but rewarding. When asked about his greatest rewards, Dr. Heil said: “The most rewarding moments in each day come when you hear a patient voice their happiness in achieving harmony between their inner identity and outward self.”
