A recent study conducted by Tulip Biomed claims shows that in recent years the number of plastic surgery procedures that are occurring in America has significantly risen.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAP), over 11.5 million cosmetic procedures were done in 2006 alone.

Increased Need for Better Instruments

Due to this rise in procedures, companies like Tulip Biomed Inc., are being forced to make further advancements with the tools they are producing for such procedures.

The study shows that there has been a huge increase in procedures that transfer body fat from one part of the body to another.

There has also reportedly been an increase in liposuction.

Tulip Biomed recently created a disposable cannula that is supposedly more effective and safer than non-disposable ones for fat transferring procedures.

Recent Statistics

According to recent statistics regarding plastic surgery, about $12.2 billion has been spend on cosmetic surgeries.

Procedures like liposuction and breast augmentation have netted about $7.6 billion while Botox and transferable fat injections have netted around $4.5 billion.

Reason for Increase

President of the ASAPS, Dr. James Stuzin, believes the reason for the increase in surgery is because non-surgical procedures are much safer and effective than they used to be.

There are also more surgeons performing operations now then there were in past years.
