His extensive experience and surgical training — including his plastic surgery training at the world renowned Mayo Clinic — have formed the foundation of his highly respected practice in Birmingham.

Both a General Surgeon and a Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Core's first field of practice was general surgery, and his skills as a surgeon led him to a position on the faculty at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a professor, he continued to practice as a general surgeon and eventually developed an interest in plastic surgery.

Following his plastic surgery training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, Dr. Core became a clinical instructor in plastic surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and later became Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans. He returned to Birmingham in 1995, making it his permanent home; he and his wife Heidi and their three sons reside in Vestavia.
