Santa Rosa is the largest city in Sonoma County, the center of a metro area of nearly a half million residents.  Sixty miles north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, Santa Rosa is one of those cities where previous generations would make the trek to S.F. to purchase such refinements as furniture or textiles; and to seek medical treatment for unusual or special conditions.

That is no longer the case.  Sonoma County remains a major grape and wine producer, but it is also home to many commuters and to tech businesses that have created a thriving indigenous business center.  Young families are mixed with the retirees in the area who moved there to enjoy the rural quiet that still blankets much of the County.

Santa Rosa has at least two major hospitals as well as a good sized clinic operated by Sutter.  With a half million residents in the area, you would expect Santa Rosa to be home to a full complement of medical practitioners representing the science as it is practiced today.  And the physicians are there – along with the newest imaging technology and scanners that make modern medicine so different than that practiced just a generation ago. 

Santa Rosa enjoys some of the affluence that has spilled out of the Bay Area into surrounding communities.  The mixed demographic and high median income has generated retail growth and led specialized service providers to prosper.  Among those specialists are a substantial group of California’s plastic surgeons.
