Guide to Nevada Plastic Surgery
Nevada has seen its population boom with the explosion of development in Las Vegas. It has always been a destination site, a place where adults – and now, families – go to play. Similarly to perhaps Scottsdale Arizona, some cosmetic plastic surgery facilities have made themselves into surgical destination sites. They have spa services included in the design and some even offer deluxe housing services, making their clinics a getaway site for cosmetic surgery and the first few days of healing, while swelling and bruising subside.
Las Vegas is also a place where dress clothes are seen in many venues and where people are anxious to look their best. The city has a wide variety of spa salons, ambulatory plastic surgery centers and facilities that are a combination of the two. For the most part, the prominent plastic surgeons there are board certified. Many of them specialize in breast augmentation, tummy tucks and liposuction. Botox seems to be available not only from every cosmetic plastic surgeon but at many of the spas as well.
At the other end of the state, Reno has enjoyed its own building boom and has matured into a comfortable city in the Sierra Nevada range. The University of Nevada has its medical school there, which has a rigorous and thorough plastic surgery residency program of six years in duration. Surgeons emerging from the training program there will be well versed in all of the major reconstructive surgical techniques and will have trained for cosmetic surgery procedures as well.
Reno’s plastic surgeons appear to practice in their own outpatient clinics, offering the complete array of body enhancement procedures. You won’t encounter a lot of ‘cut rate’ cosmetic surgery practices, but you will find quite a few that emphasize available financing programs. That’s not unusual for plastic surgery clinics, but it seems to be more important in cities like Reno that have a large number of tourists passing through on a year-round basis.
Regardless of the casual nature of the outpatient clinics compared to hospitals, cosmetic surgery is a somewhat invasive process that requires anesthesia and causes bruising, swelling and occasionally post-operative bleeding. A tummy tuck or body lift will inhibit walking ability, while breast augmentation will limit range of motion in the arms for a short period. For some people, slipping away to a Las Vegas or Reno cosmetic surgery site that is set up for out of town visitors is a welcome option.
