Guide to Pennsylvania Plastic Surgery

In the world of internet inquiries, two of the most popular areas for which searches are conducted for cosmetic plastic surgery lie in the state of Pennsylvania.  They are the two major cities of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.  While Philadelphia is in the midst of an enormous metro area crossing state lines, Pittsburgh is a relatively small metro area and the fervent interest in cosmetic surgery there is something of a surprise.

Nevertheless Pittsburgh residents won’t be surprised at the number of board certified cosmetic plastic surgeons that can be found in their area.  There are several large, long established aesthetic plastic surgery clinics in Pittsburgh; some have more than one location, providing services in more than one neighborhood.

While some surgeons specialize in specific body rejuvenation procedures such as breast augmentations and tummy tucks, others prefer to focus on the overall approach of “body sculpting.”  This approach may involve several procedures including but not limited to liposuction, a tummy tuck, a body lift for the buttocks and hips, reduction of loose skin on upper arms, some sort of slimming and tightening in the neck area, and so forth.

Body sculpting is an all inclusive and radical approach to aesthetic plastic surgery, and it can achieve radical results.  It can also be expensive, and those who chose to have multiple cosmetic plastic surgery procedures are taking multiple risks that some sort of revision surgery may be necessary.

Whatever the approach, cosmetic surgery is an active profession in the Pittsburgh area as it is in Philadelphia.  Temple University’s Medical School offers clinical programs in both reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery.  If your interest in cosmetic plastic surgery is taking you toward a more traditional medical resource, the Temple University Health System might be a good choice.

Some Philadelphia aesthetic surgeons have opted for specialties: one physicians focuses completely on epidermal treatments and fillers.  This clinic’s list of procedures includes Botox and facial fillers, but beyond that the entire repertoire is procedures such as laser skin treatment, hair removal, vein removal, plasma resurfacing, acne and scars, and spa services.

Other physicians specialize in breast augmentation – which includes breast enhancement, breast reduction and breast lifts.  Some focus solely on the neck and facial procedures that include facial fillers, fat transplants, face and neck lifts, rhinoplasty, etc.  While many are in the City of Philadelphia, suburbs such as Bryn Mawr, Huntingdon Park, Bala Cynwyd, and Jenkintown are home to aesthetic plastic surgery specialists as well.
