Guide to Tennessee Plastic Surgery
Tennessee has several significant population centers – among them Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga and Murfreesboro. Nashville has recently surpassed Memphis as the largest metro area with over one and a half million residents living in and around the city. And of course Nashville has built a brand for itself around the country music industry that is headquartered there in the form of artists, song writers, recording studios and tens of thousands of tourists who visit the city to see the music-oriented tourist attractions. The fact that it is also the state capitol is obscured by its legendary music industry and collection of artists in residence.
Nashville’s relative affluence seems to have generated a concentration of plastic surgery clinics. Some have more than one surgeon as full time practitioners – a rarity in today’s era of privately run plastic surgery ‘clinics’ that are combination office and surgical facilities for practicing cosmetic surgeons. There is also a real emphasis on recently developed cosmetic surgery tools, technology and procedures. Many are non-surgical in nature such as facial fillers, branded laser systems for skin treatment and liposuction ‘technology’ touted as new and more efficient.
Memphis is the second largest metro area, with a little over one and a quarter million residents in and around the city. It has always been a center of commerce and supports a substantial population of white collar workers and technocrats. While the city has its share of social problems its role as a business center makes it a natural center for the services of cosmetic plastic surgeons as well. Business professionals invest in personal appearance and can usually afford to do so with cosmetic plastic surgery in these days of reasonable prices.
Memphis also has several cosmetic plastic surgery practices that feature a group of surgeons. The larger of these have surgeons that specialize in certain treatments: one perhaps focusing on breast augmentation, the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure at the moment; another who specializes in the various lifts and sculpting procedures involving the nose, face and neck; and yet another that may handle the epidermal treatments such as Botox, laser skin treatment and the new plasma skin treatments as well.
Chattanooga also has a number of practices with multiple surgeons as partners. There are also cosmetic surgery clinics in the city that combine the surgical side of body enhancement with spa services generally found in a salon setting. These include chemical skin peels, laser hair removal, bath treatments of various sorts and of course a wide selection of products to chose from on the way out. The combination of surgical and non-surgical treatments in two different settings – salon and medical office – make the pursuit of body enhancement a little less medical and a lot more indulgent. It seems like a good combination for people who are intimidated by the nature of surgical body sculpting.
