Guide to Virginia Plastic Surgery
In Northern Virginia, the major industry is still political power as that area of the state is a series of suburbs for Washington DC’s public employees. In recent years however the area around Dulles Airport and Reston VA have become high tech centers with the requisite upwardly bound engineers, technicians and computer experts of all types.
Towns across the Potomac from the Capital such as Alexandria, Arlington and McLean all have plastic surgeons practicing in full service clinics. Many of them have two or more partners who divide specialties among themselves. One surgeon is usually a specialist in breast augmentation along with other procedures involving the torso and hips: procedures such as liposuction, body lifts, and the combination of the two known as body sculpting. Another doctor will generally focus on the face and neck, offering experience in eyelid surgery, brow lifts, fat implants or collagen implants for smoothing facial wrinkles, rhinoplasty and chin augmentation; and finally neck lifts and full facial lifts.
One Northern Virginia group covers all bases with an office in Bethesda MD, north of the Capital and two below the Potomac in Reston and McLean VA. Heading south and east from the Capital area will bring you to the largest metro area in the state around Norfolk and Hampton Roads. Eastern Virginia Medical School is located here, a teaching facility that also operates a number of medical clinics in the area. One of them is the Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Center in Virginia Beach.
Several of the cosmetic surgeons in the area have partnerships that operate ‘medi-spas’ in conjunction with the surgical facilities. These spas are dedicated to skin analysis and personalized assistance in choosing products to meet skin care needs. These services are accompanied by the usual salon options of massages, baths and skin treatments, provided in an environment that encourages relaxation.
Richmond is the capital of the state and a thriving economic area in its own right. The cosmetic surgeons in Richmond also tend to operate in first-class facilities that are large enough to house both a surgical component and a spa where non-surgical treatments are performed. Some of these treatments include Botox injections or the use of another popular filler, Restylane. Laser treatments for skin and for hair removal are also performed in the non-surgical facility.
And then there’s Charlottesville, home to the University of Virginia and its fine Medical School. The medical school operates four health clinics and service centers in Charlottesville area alone along with a major hospital. In virtually every corner of the state cosmetic plastic surgeons have opened facilities and are providing standards of excellence comparable to any major urban center.
