Scarless Breast Augmentation

In 2003, 8.3 million Americans underwent cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S. There was a 20 percent increase from 2002 to 2003, with a greater acceptance of cosmetic surgery largely attributed to the high number of reality cosmetic surgery shows depicting dramatic results among otherwise ordinary people. With the increase in acceptance and as a result, number of cosmetic surgery procedures sought, a large number of improvements throughout the years have surfaced in the way surgeons perform things like breast augmentation.

The aesthetic outcome, as well as the risks associated to surgical procedures, has made major strides throughout the years in the great number of breast augmentation surgeries performed. More than a quarter-million women had breast augmentation surgery in 2003. Scarless breast augmentation is a more recent addition to breast surgeries and has been a very good option for select candidates. Advantages to Scarless Breast Augmentation

If qualified, the scarless breast augmentation allows patients to recover quicker and easier than traditional breast surgery. There is also less pain associated to scarless breast augmentation, but most importantly the one scar the surgery requires is placed in an inconspicuous place. The scar can either be placed in the naval or any existing scar already on the patient's body. Some patients prefer not to tell people about cosmetic surgery procedures and the scarless breast augmentation allows it to be easier hidden. The short, less than one-hour procedure may allow some patients to achieve a natural, quicker recovery than traditional breast augmentation.

Are You a Candidate?

Only patients that do not already have breast sagging can get a scarless breast augmentation since going through the navel will not allow for a breast lift as well. Simply putting the scarless breast augmentation over an already droopy breast will appear aesthetically unappealing.

Patients also need to have enough breast tissue to be considered for the scarless breast augmentation in order to achieve the most natural appearance. The absence of enough breast tissue can cause the implant to be seen because there will not be a layer between the implant and the skin's surface.
