Micro Peel

A micro peel is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that provides the lightest chemical peeling to rejuvenate and regenerate the skin's natural radiance, softness, smoothness, and youth.  A micro peel is safe and effective in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, evening out the skin's pigmentation, diminishing pore size, and treating acne.

A micro peel is more potent than over-the-counter treatments, but does not require a significant recovery period.  Because a micro peel is a lighter chemical peel treatment, it cannot deliver the more drastic improvements made by deeper peels and surgical options.  Patients will particularly sensitive skin may experience some redness or discomfort a day or two after the procedure.  The micro peel can improve the skin's texture, color, and overall appearance with few drawbacks.

A micro peel is performed in a doctor's office or surgery center and takes approximately 30 minutes to complete.  Anesthesia is typically not required before a micro peel, though some patients benefit from a mild sedative.  There are three steps to a micro peel treatment.  The first step involves the physical scrapping or application of an enzyme solution to remove dead cells and other debris from the facial skin.  Next a lactic or glycolic alphahydroxy acid solution is applied to the facial treatment areas and allowed to soak for a few seconds to a few minutes.  This facilitates further cleaning of the skin and removes debris that has been lodged in the pores.

The last step of a micro peel treatment is a cryogenic therapy wherein am instrument with a carbon dioxide "dry ice"? ball at its point is moved in circular motions at the surface of the skin to freeze off a micro-layer.  A moisturizing cream is then applied.  There is little downtime associated with this procedure.  A patient is able to resume normal daily activities almost immediately.

The maximum effect of each micro peel treatment will be evident about two weeks after treatment.  Most patients benefit most from a series of about six micro peel treatments.   After this initial series periodic maintenance micro peel treatments may be beneficial.  If you would like to learn more about the many benefits of micro peel treatments, please contact us to speak with a reputable and experienced cosmetic surgeon in your area.
