Feather Face Lift

A feather face lift is a surgical cosmetic option available to those who wish to enhance their facial appearance. A feather face lift is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that delivers a significant improvement in facial appearance without some of the drawbacks of a traditional face lift. Some of the benefits of a feather face lift include minimal discomfort, no scarring, no general anesthesia required, and little downtime and quick recovery.

Good candidates for a feather face lift are those who have experienced drooping of the facial and neck skin as a result of aging and genetics, those with under-pronounced facial features, and those who have sun damaged skin. Good candidates for a feather face lift should also speak to their surgeon about the details of this procedure in order to realistically understand what to expect before, during, and after a feather face lift. Patients should be in good physical and psychological health prior to a feather face lift and should speak to their surgeon about their full medical history, including current medication and supplements, to reduce the risk of related complications.

The feather facelift procedure is generally done on an out-patient basis under a local anesthetic and possibly sedation. The feather face lift is performed by using a product called Aptos threads. These monofilament threads are designed to be inserted subcutaneously to form a support structure that lifts the facial skin. The threads are inserted under the skin with a needle, and therefore the incisions are minimal and generally do not leave scars. A feather face lift can lift the skin of the brow area, jaw line, cheek area, or neck area. The feather face lift procedure takes approximately thirty minutes to complete.

After a feather face lift, a patient should rest and avoid strenuous activities for the first week. It is important to follow all after-care instructions provided by the cosmetic surgeon. Patients should avoid smoking, alcohol, and some medications as indicated by their doctor. Most patients will be able to resume normal activities soon after a feather face lift.

The feather face lift results are similar to the results of other mini-face lifts and can be combined with other facial enhancing procedures to further enhance a patient's appearance. The results of a feather face lift generally last between three and five years. The feather face lift procedure was originally developed in Europe in the late 1990s and was brought to the United States a few years later. Surgeons who use the feather face lift technique have found that patients have a very low rate of complications and are highly satisfied with their new image.

The cost of a feather facelift can vary depending on a number of factors. The average cost of a feather face lift is approximately one to three thousand dollars. Because feather face lift surgery is done for aesthetic reasons, it is not generally covered by medical insurance.
