How Does the Juvederm Treatment Work?

The Juvederm treatment is injected into the patient's skin with a syringe. The gel helps to improve the skin's appearance by lifting and adding volume to facial wrinkles and folds. After six to nine months, the biocompatible compound becomes naturally reabsorbed into the body.

Although side effects associated with the Juvederm treatment are rare and usually minor, they may include skin discoloration, swelling, bruising, pain and tenderness.

Juvederm treatment can cost anywhere from $300-$1,000, depending upon the size of the treatment area and the type of formula being used.

Types of Juverderm Formula

When getting the Juvederm treatment, patients can choose from the following different formulas:

  • Juvederm 18- This fluid gel targets the upper layers of skin for treating fine lines like crow's feet
  • Juvederm 24- A denser gel, this formula is used to target the middle layers of skin for moderate lines like forehead wrinkles
  • Juvederm 30- Considered the most dense gel, this is used to target the folds between the cheeks and nose, to enhance lip volume, and to reshape cheek contours
